Side of base is incised "(c) The Walt Disney Company". Anri medal disk trademark (used from 1982-1988) is present on bottom of base as a mark of origin and genuinity. Made in Italy.
Each single item is hand carved according to the artist’s master piece. The carver requires up to 20 cutting irons in many different sizes and forms to facilitate the production of a figure. The soft lime wood is particularly suitable for carving and allows each figure its own special character. As a result, a truly unique piece is created.
All items are hand painted. Trained painters use water colors and the finest brushes, as they allow the wood grain to remain visible. A specific follow-up treatment lends these figures the originality of a genuine and antique woodcarving.

3 inches tall by 2-1/4 inches wide. "Silson" Unsigned Hummel figural pin of a boy and girl made in Germany in the 1940's.
"Silson" created a series of these child-like pins based on a licensing agreement with Hummel. Made of pot metal, each measures approximately 3" tall. This series was designed by William Regelmann for "Silson".
Kathy Flood has a chapter in her "Warman's Costume Jewelry Figurals" book on page 39 with the history and photos of these pins. These illustrations are from drawings of the Bavarian nun, Sister Maria I. Hummel. "Silson" evidently made slight changes to her illustrations so that they could patent these children in fun loving settings.
In 1933, several years after entering the convent, her artwork was published in a book when she was 24, unfortunately she died at the age of 37. Kathy Flood lists the names of 14 of the known Hummel brooches in her book.

Price is for the pair. Size: 4-3/4" X 5". Old Name: "Hummel Rings." Originally modeled in 1935 by master sculptor Reinhold Unger. There is some size variation between old and new pieces. Early red color rings are extremely rare. Now produced in tan color only. The girl, 30B always has orange color hair ribbon, except on red color rings, then it is blue. Although now made in only one size, current production models still have incised "O" size designator. Factory representatives state that this "will possibly disappear sometime in the future." Also found unpainted in white over glaze finish.

First modeled by master sculptor Arthur Moeller in 1936. Currently still in production. There are many size variations between the older and newer models. Sometimes call "Little Gooseherder" in older catalogues. Older models have a blade of grass between the geese. This has been eliminated or reduced in size on newer versions. The large size 47/II was restyled with the new textured finish in the 1970s. Sometimes incised 47.2 or 47/2 instead of 47/II. Large size was listed as TW "temporarily withdrawn" on the 1993 price list. Recent information located in an old Goebel product book indicates that master sculptor Arthur Moeller in 1935 produced samples in the 47/0 size with a round attached "pot" and another with an oblong attached bowl.

Roman numerals to the left of the HUM number indicate the size of the candle that fits into the figurine. Size I is .6 cm, size III is 1 cm. Also called "Little Heavenly Angel" in old catalogues. Candleholders are always on right side of angel. Originally modeled in 1935 by master sculptor Reinhold Unger. Very early pieces do not have a size designator--incised 39 only. Since these figrurines are relatively small in size, the signature may be only "HUM" on the back or on the leg of the angel.

Closed edition. Rare, less than 10 known to exist. According to factory records, this figurine was produced in very limited numbers, probably because of its similarity to Hummel 195 and 201. The name "Little Velma" is not official, it was assigned to the figurine by the person who first found one and brought it to the attention of collectors. Experts think this figurine must have been sold only in Canada as all examples found have been in this region.
The figurine was designed in 1952 by master sculptor Reinhold Under.
