What's A C-Grade?

The iGuide C Scale for Grading Tangible Assets is a 10-point scale developed by Jon R. Warren of 2nd Markets Corporation in 1991 to codify a set of standardized ranges for describing the state of preservation of objects. Every category of objects, from antiques to coins to stamps, has a universally recognized set of terms used by experts to describe the condition or grade of an object. The C Scale attempts to set a universal standard for applying grade to objects of all types. The Scale runs from a low of C1 to a high of C10, where C10 is the best grade and C1 is the worst.

C10 : New, Perfect Condition

C9 : Almost New, Almost Imperceptible Flaw

C8 : Very fine / Excellent

C7 : Fine

C6 : Almost Fine

C5 : Very Good

C4 : Good-Very Good

C3 : Good

C2 : Fair, Heavily Worn

C1 : Poor, Damaged, Incomplete
