This was a set of 25 coins from the Treasure Coins of the Caribbean Coin Collection minted and issued in limited edition by the Franklin Mint in 1985. These $20 sterling silver coins issued by the British Virgin Islands come displayed in a custom case. The complete set has a face value of $500, not US dollars, but rather British Virgin Islands dollars, which are worth about $1 US. These coins are not worth $20 each, which is a common misconception among non-collectors.

The face of each medal portrays the significant event or outstanding performance that made Olympic history. The reverse of the medal describes the lasting  significance of that event or performance,in the language of the host country. The collection  includes both the Summer and Winter Olympics, from 1896 to 1976. The gold and sterling silver medals are serially numbered.

In cooperation with the leading gold producers of North America, the mint issued this collection of 50 official ingots of North America's gold producing mines. Each 24KT gold ingot represents one of the 50 leading mines of the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. The name of each gold mine appears on the obverse of its ingot. The reverse carries the name of the owner/operator of the mine, together with any official company emblem, and an engraved outline map showing the mine's location.

Individual ingots were minted for the actual gold producers for the use of their own staff or customers. The mint was granted exclusive privilege of issuing the complete set of 50 ingots to collectors. The set of 50 ingots was issued in a collectors chest of polished hardwood and genuine leather. It included a transparent locking security cover, and space inside the chest lid to store background information on each ingot. The owner's personal signature could also be inscribed on the chest. The set was certified on June 1, 1977.

The official medallic portraits of the Presidents and First Ladies of the U.S. as authorized by the White House Historical Association (WHHA) were engraved and struck in miniature for a special collection of sterling silver mini-coins.  The portraits on the mini coins are outstanding historical works of art created by 2 of the world's leading medallic sculptors. Gilroy Roberts and Harold Faulkner. These are the medallic portraits which have previously appeared on the medals authorized by the WHHA and issued several years ago 

Gilroy Roberts created the 38 presidential portraits, and Harold Faulkner created the portraits of the 43 First Ladies. All 80 portraits have been individually reviewed and authenticated by the Curator of the White House, Mr. Clement Couger. A hardwood display case, with a transparent top was provided to each subscriber.

This collection of 50 ingots depicts the official flags of all 50 states. It was authorized by the National Governors' Conference, which represents the governors of all 50 states. The art collections of the Vatican are among the richest and most important in the world. The Galleries, Buildings and Museums of the Vatican contain thousands of masterpieces -- ranging from sculptures of classical antiquity through the frescoes and paintings of the Renaissance to modern works of art. To commemorate the 500th anniversary of the founding of the Vatican Museums, the oldest of the world's great museums, the 100 outstanding art treasures of the Vatican were selected with the assistance of an Advisory Board, composed of nine Curators and Historians of the Vatican.

The 100 medal set was available from 1976 to 1984.

In tribute to this great artist, this collection of 12 ingots portraying 12 of Winslow Homer's most famous works was issued. The ingots are exceptionally large, measuring more than 3" long by 2" wide. The face of each ingot presents the masterpiece in finely sculptured detail. The reverse identifies the work and the date of its creation. Each subscriber received a matched set of two framable display plaques plus a deluxe library case. The set was issued in 1977.

For each coin-medal, there was a matching tribal history book written by a distinguished authority of the American Indian. Each book is individually hand-signed by a tribal leader and bears the same matching serial number as the coin medal. The number of proof-quality coin-medals struck for any tribe is limited to 15,000 specimens. Of this number, a maximum of 9500 have been reserved exclusively for established Franklin Mint collectors.

The fourth annual Rockwell Christmas plate. 8" diameter. Certified November 1, 1973.  The Chrstimas plate is made of solid sterling silver and contains an original etching of the work of art drawn by Norman Rockwell expressly for this limited edition.

The 1972 ornament continues an annual Franklin Mint holiday tradition started in 1971. Each year, a new Christmas ornament containing a medal is introduced. The sculptured designs are based on a traditional Christmas carol. Following the Christmas season, the medal struck for that year will never be minted again.

The INDIAN CHILD IN A HAMMOCK plate is the first work of six depicting children of mankind. Joe Rosenthal sketched this artwork at the camp of Robert Smallboy, Chief of the Ermineskin band of Cree Indians at Hobema, Alberta. It shows a young girl rocking a baby in the typical hammock used by the tribe and expresses the simple endearing joy of children.

In 1922, the beautiful treasures buried in the tomb of the Pharaoh Tutankhamen more than 3000 years ago were discovered. In November, 1976, at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., many of these treasures were on special display in a public exhibition --- the first in a series of exhibitions held in major art museums throughout the U.S., arranged through the courtesy of the Egyptian Museum, Egypt's national museum. This collection of 36 medals was issued in tribute to Egypt's ancient art heritage in connection with the public exhibition. Each of the 36 medals depicts one of the golden treasures created for the Pharaoh, and these works of art are among the most beautiful and most important of these treasures. The reverse bears the title of the work, together with the symbol of the Egyptian Museum.

This series of 100 medals, in 5 annual series of 20, paid tribute to great patriots from important eras of American History. The men and women so enshrined were elected to this honor in public balloting conducted by the Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge, Pa. A complete set of all 100 medals is on permanent display at Freedoms Foundation. The face of each medal bears a portrait of the honored patriot as he or she is best remembered by the American public. The symbol of the Freedoms Foundation, a study of George Washington at prayer at Valley Forge, appears on the reverse of each medal. 

Each piece is approximately 3 x 5 inches. The entire set is approximately 21-1/2 inches long when all the cars are hooked together. The six cars are: Tomorrowland, Fantasyland, Frontierland, Adventureland, Main Street, and New Orleans Square. The train cars attach to one another with their front and back hitches.

A distinguished international board of advisors chose the ships to be honored. Bicentennial Medal Commemorating the Declaration of Independence. 38mm diameter. Dated 1976 with Thomas Jefferson on the obverse and the signing of the Declaration of Independence on reverse. This coin weighs ~31 grams and is .925 silver.

Issued in bronze, sterling silver and Franklinium, in both a 39mm size and a 32mm. Only the sterling silver version has any value. The sterling silver medal was only issued in the 39mm size.

Saint Christopher was the patron saint of travelers. Issued from 1968 to 1974.

Each sterling silver plate, 8" in diameter, is one of a limited edition of 10,000 and is individually numbered, hallmarked, and authenticated. The plate is struck in bas-relief.

It was authorized by the National Governor's Conference, which represents the Governor's of all 50 states. This set includes a first day of issue postal cachet and 39mm sterling silver proof medal enclosed in a special leatherette display wallet. Certified July 1, 1971. On this date, the Post Office reached a historic landmark when it ceased operation as a governmental function and became a service industry. President Richard Nixon appointed Winton M. Blount as the first Postmaster General of the U. S. Postal Service and Chairman of its Board of Governors.

To commemorate the inauguration of the new United States Postal Service, the National Association of Postmasters of the United States and the National League of Postmasters issued this sterling silver commemorative medal in combination with a pair of historic stamp cancellations. The silver medal weighs about 26 grams.

This 1976 set includes all the coins struck at the Vienna and Hall mints, for both the circulated and proof coins. The brilliant uncirculated coins, while issued in mint condition, may show slight "nicks" or other minor surface marks. Even though they were never circulated, they may have been stored in bags or boxes at the Mint where movement may have made the "rub" against each other, causing "bag marks" which are superficial markings, which do not affect the coin's intrinsic beauty or value.

SERIES I: Features Olympic Rings and the Innsbruck coat of Arms on the obverse. It contains two coins (one proof and one BU) both struck at the Vienna Mint (but bearing no mint mark).

In order to stimulate support for the preservation of the great historic sites where America took form, the National Trust for Historic Preservation, a non-profit organization chartered by Congress, issued this series of 50 medallic covers. Each cover pays tribute to a different major historic site in one of the 50 states. Each cover was postmarked on the medal's first day of issue at the post office servicing the site commemorated.

The set was issued from 1970-1972. Each medal is a 39 millimeter Proof.

Proof-like medals, not in covers, were also sold to individual states.

26mm. Issued in bronze, aluminum and sterling silver versions, only the silver version having any significant value. These sets came in blue library display binders. 25 medals were in each binder. Three series were produced, Series 1, Series 2, and Series 3.

In 1969, the Sun Oil company used the aluminum medals in a promotional program game. There were two series of 25 medals, distinguished by their reverses. Some medals carried an "Instant Winner" reverse, which could be redeemed for cash prizes or bronze sets of medals. Sterling silver sets were offered to collectors.

The collection was available from 1969 to 1970.

The Bronze set consisted of 26 millimeter proofs. Its mintage was 325,024 sets.

This case also contains a card on each nidividual badge which tells the history and story of each badge.

A vintage commemorative sterling silver medal and first day of issue envelope with U.S. Eisenhower [pstage stamp, housed in a folding display booklet and issued in a limited edition by The Danbury Mint in 1969. The postmark on the envelope is the first day of issue for the Eisenhower 6c postage stamp, which was October 14, 1969.

The medal is struck in a beautiful base relief with an antique finish. It is 1-1/2 inches in diameter and weighs about 42 grams or almost 1 1/2 ounces of sterling silver.

39mm. This was a collection of 100 gold on sterling silver fine art medals inspired by the greatest masterpieces of the Renaissance. The medals portray the greatest paintings, sculptures, and architecture produced during the centuries from 1300 to 1600. The masterpieces honored in this collection were selected with the assistance of a group of eminent art historians, including scholars associated with such leading museums as the Uffizi in Florence, the Vatican Museums in Rome, the Louvre in Paris, The Royal Museum of Fine Art in Brussels, and the Prado in Madrid. The obverse of each medal depicts the work itself, while the reverse includes the name of the artist, the title of the work and the date of its creation.

Complete set of 36 medals depicting different forms of wildlife considered to be endangered in the wild. Issued in both a gold-plated and a sterling silver version, both of equal value.  The medals were designed by Joseph Di Lorenzo and Marcel Jovine. They were produced by The Wittnauer Precious Metals Guild and marketed by the Longines Symphonette in the early seventies. Technical assistance was provided by the Sierra Club. These sterling silver medals were minted in high-relief and the gold-plated edition included a layer of electroplating in 24K Gold. The medals were housed in custom frames with information sheets on each of the animals featured. Actual size of 40mm. The edge of each medal is serial numbered with Longines Symphonette 24K Gold E.P. on Sterling ir STERLING SILVER embedded in the edge in tiny print.

In celebration of the 20th anniversary of the publication of John F. Kennedy's "Profiles in Courage", this collection of 9 sculptured portrait cameos was issued. Each cameo portrays one of the 8 great men of courage singled out by Kennedy in his Pulitzer Prize winning book. The collection includes a cameo portrait of Kennedy himself, for a total of 9 cameos. The cameos were created in base-relief, and the cameo itself is cone shaped. The set was issued in sterling silver or gold-plated sterling silver.

The front of each ingot has the name and profile image of a famous American. The back of each ingot has "OUR GREATEST AMERICANS", a brief note about the person, and a troy oz / purity stamp.

Complete set of 36 medals. Antique finish, high relief. Each medal was encased in a large Lucite holder and the entire set was housed in a deluxe wooden box. Obverse of each medal features a bust of the president with the name at top of medal and date range representing the years in office at the lower portion of the medal. The reverse of the medal features a brief historical profile of the president, with the life span at the top.

This series of 60 medals issued by the Britannia Commemorative Society honors outstanding people, places and events in the history of Great Britain. The dies were made at the Franklin Mint and were then sent to Great Britain where 809 proofs were struck for members in England and other parts of the world. Each medal bears the subscriber's personal serial number on its edge. The Society's address was (as of 1980): The Britannia Commemorative Society, Collector Service Department, Franklin Center, Pa. 19091.

On the occasion of the 200th Anniversary of the drafting of the Declaration of Independence by Thomas Jefferson, this collection of 12 medals was issued. It commemorates the lifetime of achievement by one of the most brilliant and versatile Americans of all time. Each medal focuses on a major facet of Jefferson's career. This is the first comprehensive collection of medals ever minted to commemorate Jefferson's career. The gold on sterling edition was available only to Franklin Mint Collector Society members.

This was The Franklin Mint's first Zodiac series and the first complete series ever sculptured by Gilroy Roberts, who developed a new Zodiac design concept by interweaving sign, symbol and word in artistic harmony. This series was minted in a variety of sizes, metals, and finishes, and is very common. Pendants and other jewelry items were also struck using the designs. The set was issued from 1968 to 1970.

A set of 20 medals which depict each of the various stages of the Apollo moon mission were minted in 1970. A total of 4,967 sets were issued containing silver that was thought to have been carried around the moon. After learning this to be incorrect, The Franklin mint requested the subscribers to return their medals for destruction. The replacement medals were struck from a special lot of silver containing metal that was personally carried by the astronauts around the moon. A total of 3,698 of the original sets were returned for replacement. A small horizontal line was added above the mintmark to distinguish the replacement medals from the originals.

Each medal is 32 millimeters in diameter.

Complete set is 38 ingots. Additional ingots were released separately each year. Authorized and approved by the Washington DC Bicentennial Commission. Produced in both silver and gold-plated silver versions. Limited Edition of 25,000 sets (silver version) and 10,000 sets (gold-plated version).

The complete set is housed in a velvet-lined wooden case. The large medal is a calendar medal for the year 1973. The six smaller medals each depict a Christmas scene.

Issued 1976. One of four silver wall sculptures in the collection "The Westerners." These wall sculptures have a very thin layer of silver, as thin as aluminum foil, and have, therefore, little or no silver value.

Holiday Scene, minted with a gem proof finish in solid sterling silver, is the seventh annual holiday medal which depicts Christmas Carolers on the obverse and a deer nature scene on the reverse. This is one of four medals struck in limited edition by the Franklin Mint to commemorate the 1971 holiday season. The Franklin Mint holiday medals were an annual tradition starting in 1965 and lasting until the mid seventies.

Complete set of 60 medals. In commemoration of the 200th anniversary of the world-famous La Scala Opera of Milan, La Scala Theatrical Museum issued this collection of 60 medals to honor the world's greatest operas. The museum chose the subjects for the medals and authenticated every detail of their design.

The obverse depicts the scene exactly as it would be shown on the stage of La Scala. The reverse provides a sculptured portrait of the composer and identification of the scene in the language in which the opera was written.

The set was issued from 1973-1978. Each medal is a 45 millimeter Proof, 24K gold on sterling silver.

Large ingot in frame. Issued in both bronze and silver. The bronze has little or no value. "I was always amazed by Da Vinci's overwhelming achievement in creating "The Last Supper," Fritz Weiland says, "and I knew the painting was gradually disappearing from the wall. I decided it would be a good thing to create "The Last Supper" in metal, to make it permanent so it would never be lost to us. This interpretation of "The Last Supper" was first conceived 50 years ago by the brilliant artists and engraver Fritz Weiland, and protected and preserved throughout a career of achievement. He retired in 1975, at the age of 75, as master engraver of The Franklin Mint. This is the first issue of this work of art.

Weiland worked from a reproduction of "The Last Supper" that was unclear because of the original work done by Leonardo in the 15th century was faded. So he engraved what he thought Leonardo would have wanted. Weiland engraved the work directly into steel, in reverse, creating in one hand-operation the dies from which the finished ingot was struck. It was struck in relieve, then antiqued to bring out the beauty of the work. Each ingot is issued custom mounted in a hardwood frame.

The surface area of the ingot is more than 7.5 square inches. The reverse of the ingot bears Fritz Weiland's signature, etched into the ingot, to certify the authenticity of the work.
