Hummel" signature is found on topside of lid directly behind figure. “Singing Lesson” candy box was "Temporarily Withdrawn" (TW) from production on 31 December, 1989, but may be reinstated at some future date. in 1996, a new music box was produced with model number IV/63 applied by decal on the bottom. This is one of four in a series of music boxes produced for the European market at one point in time but may be sold in the U.S. market at some future date.

The iGuide C Scale for Grading Tangible Assets is a 10-point scale developed by Jon R. Warren of 2nd Markets Corporation in 1991 to codify a set of standardized ranges for describing the state of preservation of objects. Every category of objects, from antiques to coins to stamps, has a universally recognized set of terms used by experts to describe the condition or grade of an object. The C Scale attempts to set a universal standard for applying grade to objects of all types. The Scale runs from a low of C1 to a high of C10, where C10 is the best grade and C1 is the worst.
